Number one Assignment 879

The video I chose to show some iPhone 5 tips can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QStcrYPETc
I chose this video because I am always looking up tips on the internet for various things.  There are several instructional videos that say they will give you tips but are just kids joking around.  This one was not like that.

The video was appropriate for the delivery of the information.  The iPhone is on display in the accompaniment of the voice.  Posting the video on Youtube allows for easy access to the informational video.

What I found worked in the video:

The length of the video I felt was appropriate. It wasn’t too long and there was not an overabundance of information to sort through.  I felt the pace was good.  I was able to watch the video and try the tips as the instructor is discussing what he is doing.

What could be better:

There were far too many distractions.  When the author asked what was on the back of his iPhone, I thought he was joking around.  It was maybe too casual for me.  I believe at one point he received a text while he was explaining.  He should have shut that off.  I found it very funny that he was giving an instructional video on how to do some things on the iPhone and he had a pop up appear on his screen and he did not know how to get rid of it.  If I did not know a lot about iPhones, he might have lost his credibility.  For me it is like going to the doctor when you have a cold and the doctor is sick.
I was very distracted by the script or the lack of one.  There were a lot of words repeated and there was so much extra “chat”.

Some of the video at the beginning was out of focus and a little hard to see.  Another thing that I found distracting was when the instructor was talking, he would move his hand, this caused the phone to move with the hand.

The instructor did go through a variety of functions and apps of the new iPhone, however was not a hundred per cent sure on how they work and did not give great demonstrations of the applications of the tools.  He gave mixed messages, particularly with the map feature.  He showed how it displayed and in the next breath said how he was looking forward to the update.

The video is shot fairly decently.   There was not a lot of variation in the angles.  The angles only changed when the hand moved.  The lighting was good and the background was not distracting.  What the instructor talked about some of the functions of the ios in the iPhone 5 was good and it was a brief overview which was nice.  Had he scripted it and stopped his hand from moving all over the place, it would have been better.

I can see how young kids would like this video as the instructor has that pop culture type of language. It does have around 180, 000 hits.
